Saturday, 19th of January

Whew today was a very busy day for me, a very busy one indeed. It started off like this, I woke up at 7.30 am to get a start on my homework. Little did I know I would be rushing serveral hours later. By noon I had almost finished all my homework! I then rushed to pack my stuff for my camp on Monday, I had a lot of trouble fitting my stuff into my bags as the bags I chose were too small. I spent nearly half an hour in the storeroom, which I never knew was so stuffy, looking for a bag of the right size. I then went to take a nice relaxing shower. By this time, my mother was screaming at me to come and eat lunch, my family has a eat as a family rule, so I had to hurry, to my surprise, in my hurry I had worn my shirt backwards! My whole family, myself not excluded, had a great laugh about that. The old saying, more haste less speed, was indeed true. After lunch came the biggest challenge of the day, packing my clothes into the bags. I spent the rest of the day picking out and sorting my clothes into various plastic bags before putting them into my big, bulky bags. Phew, what a day!

Friday, 18th of January

As I got up this morning, I thought," Finally, Friday is here!" After taking a refreshing morning shower, I grabbed my bag and left for school. We were given a lot of homework that was to be done over the weekends, I was dreading having to do them all. After school, it was my CCA day so after having my lunch, proceeded up with my fellow NCC cadets to the CCA room on the fourth level. After changing into our smart no.4 uniforms, we were told to fall in and the seniors came to take our attendance, followed by sending us up to the parade square for two hours of drills in the searing hot sun. We were split up into groups of six and assigned a senior to drill us. My group was made to do 20 push ups as our drills were not up to standard. After our drills, we had our physical training followed by debriefing before being dismissed. During the debriefing we were told that we had to go to the amoy quee camp ourselves as there will be no bus to take us from school. When we were dismissed we made arrangements to meet up with each other and go as small groups. We have to be at the camp by 7.30 am on Monday and will miss school on both Monday and Tuesday, I certainly hope i do not miss much nor get more homework!

Thursday, 17th of January

Today was a normal school day, except for the fact that we had our fire drill today! It is the first and only fire drill we will be having this year. It happened during literature class. During literature, Mr Tan told us to pretend we were soldiers in world war 1 and pretend to go to war with each other. My group chose to be the air force, but unfortunately we lost to the other group, the navy. As Mr Tan was telling us about how the poem " Dulce Es Decorum Est", the fire alarm went off, marking the start of the fire drill. We waited for the announcement telling us where the simulated fire was before lining up outside of our classrooms, then proceeded to the assembly area, the school field. All of us walked down in an orderly manner and settled down in our lines in the field very quickly. The teachers then began taking our attendance to make sure that everyone was safe, we did not want to have anyone in the building if it was really on fire. After the fire drill, we went back up to class and took our bags before being dismissed from school. It was indeed a good experience.

My first week of school in secondary 2

Before I knew it the holidays flew by and school has already started. I have already been through my first week of school in 2008. School started on Wednesday, 2nd January. We spent our time in school forming the class management committee and the representatives for the various subjects. I was chosen to be the Home Economics representative. During our breaks I caught up with my friends whom most I have not seen since school closed in 2007. We also met our subject teachers, some are new to us and others that have already taught us in secondary 1. One of the new teachers is Mr Thiru, who teaches us history. I am confident that I will be able to achieve my goal of 70 marks for history. On the second day of school, Miss Lim was not in school so we were given homework to do in class. I managed to complete most of the homework she gave us in class. Our literature teacher, Mr Tan, was not in school either, he was at the secondary 1 orientation camp, my form teacher, Mr Ron Tan, came into class to give us work that Mr Tan assigned us to do while he was away. On the third day of school, which was Friday, the last day of my school week, we had our first history lesson with our new teacher, Mr Thiru, He had us introduce ourselves to him, and to set a goal for history for the year 2008. For english my english teacher, and form teacher, Mr Ron Tan, took us to the IT lab to set up a blog. After the first week of school, I think I am ready to face the new year!
